Man this ABSOLUTE CLASSIC cut comes from ‘one’ of the first Global Music tapes I ever had back in or about 1988/1989 from a compilation called SUENO COLOMBIANO (now deleted).
However, this actual track dates back to 1976 and is a an AMAZING COVER of a famous track by legendary AFROBEAT artist FELA KUTI.
The Fela track was called ‘SHAKARA’ but this version is called ‘SHALOADE’ and is by Colombia’s Caribe star, WGANDA KENYA.
For me it’s ALMOST as good as the Fela original……Have a listen and decide for yourselves.
GRAB IT HERE:

THE LINK ABOVE NOW WORKS….APOLOGIES FOR IT NOT WORKING EARLIER

One of the most popular forms of CUMBIA is the bigband style stuff developed in the 50′s & 60′s. Of course this is very understandable, lush arrangements really add to the vibe and the percussionists and horn players go all out on this stuff. I’ve just found this cut at the AFRICOLOMBIA blog. Check it out!

I love this track, it’s slight melancholy and it’s dragging rhythm. I’m trying to find more by this band, they are called SONIDO BASICO, great stuff so far, check it out:
