This tune is so utterly catchy, it has been stuck in my head for almost 2 weeks now… the only way to exorcise that shit is just CUMBIAFIYING it! Check out my dub of last year (well, actually the year BEFORE that even..) biggest club dub banger…
I first heard it on Rinse.fm the other night, dropped by Plastician.
I Don’t even need to say anything about it, except its massive, and you should download it.
Damn, i’m slacking… Just back from MUNICH, let me tell u more about that tomorrow. for now just this cut which has been playing on my IPOD on the flight back home. good shiiiizzz!
Must confess I’m a huge fan of both MODESELEKTOR & APPARAT and so it’s a dream come true that in these dark economic times, mergers & acquisitions are not just the work of financial conglomerates but also of music artists!
However, I’m quite sure both Modeselektor and Apparat have not been brought together due to anything to do with finance but more so because they have a common musical understanding and love for each other sounds, as well as being good friends. To reinforce this position, it’s not the first time that they have joined forces, as they did so way back in 2002 for an EP.
They have both come together for the new album simply called ‘MODERAT’. Man, it’s Dubstep-Techno with shades of Radiohead with emotion and feeling, like an ELECTRONIC SYMPHONY.
MODESELEKTOR have been very, very influential upon the GLOBAL GHETTOTECH & DUBSTEP scenes that we at GENERATION BASS love so much and which has infiltrated a lot of the stuff we cover on this little blog of ours. So I suppose they are to Global Ghettotech & Dubstep, what KRAFTWERK were to Hip-Hop & Afrika Bambaataa! Hence ‘another’ reason why we’re covering it, cause it’s influential and plus its GREAT MUSIC.
You can listen to ‘RUSTY NAILS’ which is a gorgeous and sublime track with deep melancholic overtones. It’s like a sister companion to APPARAT’S classic “ARCADIA” track.
Steven Crompton is the man behindBARBARIX, whose sound belies this Producers very young age of 23.
If this is what he is capable of producing at this early stage of his career, then I think we’re all in for an almighty treat in the future as his sounds mature, he experiments with different genres and collaborates with different artists.
Recently, this young dude has been all over RADIO 1 on the Mary Anne Hobbs show and many others. Indeed it was after listening to Hobb’s show that he discovered DUBSTEP and his love for it and his mastery of it, grew.
I hooked up with this dude a few weeks back and man he’s a cool guy to hang out with!! So I managed to bag an assortment of some of his great stuff including his “MYSTICS” EP for Y’ALL. The EP is of his earlier IDM, Ambient and Sci-fi Glitch stuff, which harks at the kind of stuff BURIAL did with his debut album.
BUT you NEED to check out his DUBSTEP stuff and his UNBELIEVABLE REMIX OF “MISTABISHI PRINTER JAM” which is now getting an official release and so unfortunately we cannot give it to you…….Maybe next time )…CHECK IT OUT HERE
AKIRA KITESHI covers aspects of electronic music with shades of Hip Hop, Dubstep, Techno, Wonk and Funky Glitch Pop to club bangers and organic soundscapes in an almost un-danceable form.
I first heard him on my homie, Bobby Friction’s BBC Radio show a few weeks back and there’s something very exciting and innovative about his sound which has DEEP INDUSTRIAL foundations but without sounding too gloomy.
Tracks like “Noglitch”, and “Boom N Pow” inhabit the sort of madness that I, for one, have been hoping for with Hip Hop, Techno, Gabba and Dubstep all thrown into the mix. If he were ONLY to add some Global Vibes to the mixture then it might just be PERFECT!
CHECK OUT his MY SPACE to consider whether you agree with our verdict.
You can also DOWNLOAD his “Electronic Explorations Mix” RIGHT HERE
Here’s a GREAT MIX by DJ Mayur from a very exciting Indian Electronica/Dubstep/Glitch outfit calledThe Baandish Projekt. It was a mix he did for the BBC recently. Man, it’s the kind of mix that gets better with each listen, when you pick upon something new with each further play.
Deep abstract electronica underpins the mix but it is also infused with dubstep, bollywood, electro house, glitches and layered with samples of Indian folklore and Pakistani Ghazals. It also includes excerpts of stuff by the likes of the legendary Daft Punk and also one of the most exciting newcomers on the UK Dubstep scene, Barbarix (more on him soon).
Sadly, it’s not available for download just yet but it’s definitely worth investing 30 minutes of your time for an on-line listen as it’s gotta be one of the most unique mixes you would have heard in a very long time.
My Homie in the States,BASSNECTAR, has been on the scene for a number of years now doing various Breakbeat and Hip-Hop influenced stuff including the legendary “SNAKECHARMER” track that was adopted by the Tribal Fusion Bellydance fraternity as one of their Anthems.
He is currently doing some great stuff in the DUBSTEP genre and has just released a great promo called the “Art of Revolution” featuring remixes by Diplo & Ghislain Poirier which you ought to check out!
For now you can download some mixes and other stuff of his via the following link:
