ABSOLUTE CLASSIC…..AFROBEAT IN A COLOMBIANO RESTYLEE!

May 19, 2009

WGANDA2Man this ABSOLUTE CLASSIC cut comes from ‘one’ of the first Global Music tapes I ever had back in or about 1988/1989 from a compilation called SUENO COLOMBIANO (now deleted).

However, this actual track dates back to 1976 and is a an AMAZING COVER of a famous track by legendary AFROBEAT artist FELA KUTI.

The Fela track was called ‘SHAKARA’ but this version is called ‘SHALOADE’ and is by Colombia’s Caribe star, WGANDA KENYA.

For me it’s ALMOST as good as the Fela original……Have a listen and decide for yourselves.

NEW MOS DEF!

May 8, 2009

Be_kind_rewind_postAlways had a soft spot for this dude, specially since his BLACK ON BOTH SIDES album and the great performance in the movie BE KIND REWIND. Talented dude who has sometimes been slippin’ in the music dept though. Check out his new single, which is a bit strange (again), yet very funky and a bit 1993 soundin’! Courtesy of RCRDLBL:
