Our Homie BRETT of FFTANG FFTANG just sent us this cool mix. Check it out and check out their parties as well! good stuff!
My homie, the GREAT MAN, who created this AMAZING blog, ‘VINCE THE PRINCE’ posted this item a few months back.
BUT I thought it might be cool and could do with a repost because for me, it in many ways;
EXEMPLIFIES THE GENERATION BASS EXPERIENCE!
Also it gives you all a good idea as to what’s exciting me most DJ-WISE at the minute. BUT I WARN YOU, I am very diverse.
So I hope you don’t mind and I hope my homie doesn’t mind too.
So here it is again but this time together with VOLUME 2, which has not been posted B4 🙂
GLOBAL GHETTOTECH VOL 1 & 2 (Mostly improv, both -1 cut & 1st take-PIONEER CDJ 1000 MKII & PIONEER DJM600-Man I need an upgrade, I think)
Will be doing a VOLUME 3 SOON!
WHAT IS GLOBAL GHETTOTECH?
According to Wikipedia, Global Ghettotech is a “an intentionally sardonic term coined by ethnomusicologist Wayne Marshall, describes a loosely-defined aggregate of club and sound system-based music from around the world…….Global ghettotech is not a world music-style celebration of exotic sounds, but DJ mixable hybrids constructed from drum machines and synths available the world over. This music is designed to hit hard on the dancefloor, not background conversation at your local café. These musical genres are inspired by the organ-rattling bass of massive speaker towers, sexually-charged dancers, and fierce (even violent) rivalries between local MCs, DJs and producers”.
BTW WAYNE MARSHALL AKA WAYNE WAX HAS CONFIRMED HIS APPROVAL OF THIS MIX AS BEING INDICATIVE OF HIS PHRASE.. 🙂
And its pretty pretty pretty awesome! US gone Amsterdam producer PROCESS REBEL just dropped OTHER WEAPONS, a 10 track global beat extravaganza featuring vocalists like LADY K, MC COPPA & KID BEYOND. Here’s a lil taste of the bass:

This cut by BURAKA just got remixed by House producer that lives in PORTUGAL and he makes it sound even less like KUDURO. Somehow this got shared by KUDUROPODFILES though… Anyways I wanted to share this because the developments concerning original, remix and copy, as well as influences on scenes are something that always interest me. but it’s a bit weak. here ya go!
Just got this through the great GET SPLASTIQUE. It appears my boy DIPLO had a lot of fun with SWITCH while recording their MAJOR LAZER tracks. “Me a fake jamaican and me smoke cocaine” and “Me rather eat your brain than your pussy” are rather blunted parts of this lyrical odessy… Check the madness out here:
